I wish I could say that this long night of factory-like, alienating type of thought and practice in education is finally over.

But the educational apparatus still marches to its drummer, without any knowledge or embarrassment of the small place of this particular discourse in the historical human drama. Still, the industrial education apparatus, which used and enabled this poor exchange of repackaged disciplinary practice for human understanding, now slowly responds to demands for an historically more efficient postindustrial education.
